Do you have a wedding or go to the courthouse? I have no clue what to do.?

my fiance and I got engaged this past Christmas. We planned a wedding for April 2010. Well not planned but planned on I should say. He is divorced and says a wedding is a waste of money. I of course am like.... no!!! Now I am thinking it might be and don't want to spend so much money on a wedding that will last one day. My daddy said I should just get a pretty dress and go to the courthouse then have a BIG bash. Then a honeymoon of course! I just need some opinions to help me out. I am getting anxious and don't want to wait till April. Anyone, Someone... (: Thanks!!!
